About the Artist
About Brien Berberich ![]()
Contemporary artist creating impressionistic landscapes, coastal scenes, and abstract works inspired by global travels and atmospheric observation.
The Journey
My path to art has been anything but conventional. An international business career took me across the globe—from bustling cities to remote landscapes, from coastal shores to mountain vistas. Those experiences didn't just shape my perspective; they became the foundation of my artistic practice.
As I paint, I often find myself pulled back to places I've seen—fragments of landscapes, shifts in atmosphere, the way light transforms a scene. These aren't literal reproductions but emotional responses to moments that left their mark.
The Work
I work primarily in acrylics on stretched cotton canvas, using a gallery-wrap technique that extends the image around all four sides. This creates a finished, museum-quality presentation that's ready to hang without framing, though the option remains for those who prefer it.
My practice spans three main areas:
Landscapes: Impressionistic interpretations of places that have stayed with me—high plains, hidden lakes, coastal shores, mountain ranges. Each piece captures not just what I saw, but what I felt.
Atmospherics: The sky has always been a point of obsession. Its constant shifts—driven by wind, humidity, temperature—create endless variation. In these works, the sky becomes the emotional anchor, setting the tone and elevating the entire composition.
Abstractions: My evolution into deeper abstraction strips the world to its essential forms, amplifying mood and driving a more conceptual visual experience. These pieces move beyond literal representation to explore color, movement, texture, and emotion.
The Prints
While original paintings are one-of-a-kind works, I also offer museum-quality giclee prints that make my work more accessible. Using archival inks and premium fine art paper, these reproductions maintain exceptional color accuracy and detail, ensuring the integrity of the original vision.
The Philosophy
Art should do more than decorate a wall—it should create atmosphere, evoke emotion, and invite contemplation. Whether it's the quiet serenity of a coastal scene, the dramatic power of an atmospheric sky, or the bold energy of an abstract composition, each piece is designed to transform the space it inhabits.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my work. I hope you find a piece that resonates with you.
